| Hello all! Again... not using this much at all. But just in case someone still actually reads it and is wondering if I am dead. I am not dead. lol! The end of my first year of teaching was great. After having done everything once, next year will be much better. I can re-shape some things, and keep the awesome things! It's going to be awesome! But one very important thing is that the parents and the administration seemed pleased with how things went down. phew! And I formed some pretty good bonds with the kids! But I will miss the 5th graders. They had fun personalities and were talented! The 4th graders are cool, but I dunno if they will match up! We shall see. Anyway, now I'm just enjoying summer vacation! Been relaxing, reading, tanning, going to weddings, hanging with friends in Columbus. Life is good. | | |
| I haven't written in here in forever. I don't think I'm going to write in here much anymore. I normally don't like to quit things. Normally once I begin, I like to continue things on as a tradition, I suppose. But I guess I just don't really get much out of it anymore. It's not like I'm really keeping in touch with people through here. That's what facebook is for. And if I really need to write some thoughts down, I can always do it in a note on facebook. So I guess maybe rarely I will update how life is going. But for the most part, I think I am going to continue to remain fairly inactive on xanga. I guess that's it. p.s. Teaching is going pretty well. Life is going pretty well. Changes are definitely happening, but I think I like where they are going. Take care, I'll keep reading your entries if you write on here! | | |
| So yesterday at school I had the sweetest doughnut that I've ever had. It was a glazed krispy kreme. Now don't get me wrong, I've had glazed krispy kremes before. But this one was by far the best. And it wasn't because there was anything particularly unique about how it tasted. I mean, ALL glazed krispy kremes are delicious, and this one was no different in that sense. Yet, it was by far the sweetest I've ever had. It was the sweetest because it came from a 3rd grade student of mine. He walked into my room, smiling from ear to ear, with this adorable krispy kreme hat on. He said hi, and I said hello back, and then asked what the doughnuts were for. He said, "Today is my birthday! Would you like a doughnut?" I said, "Sure! Thank you so much!" Then a woman walked into the room behind him, and introduced herself as his mother. I had the pleasure of telling her about how her talented 3rd grade son had played the piano for the class the other day, and had done an AMAZING job! This 3RD GRADE boy played Fur Elise by Beethoven PERFECTLY FROM MEMORY the entire way through, even all of the difficult parts. I watched his tiny hands move across the keys so quickly (better than mine could have!) and I was FLOORED. Anyway, his mother thanked me for the compliment, and then she said, "He was so excited that he had an extra doughnut left over, so that he could come share one with you, his music teacher." I said thank you, and told him that he was very sweet, and then they left. I felt like a million dollars. It completely made my day. I couldn't stop smiling for the rest of the day. And when I ate that doughnut, it was the sweetest, most wonderful doughnut I have ever eaten. Ever. LOVING my job so far. Working your butt off for 4 long years in college is SO WORTH IT. Always remember that if you're someone who is struggling. You can do it. And you'll be glad you did. | | |
| Wow! It's been a really long time. Sorry. LOL! This summer has been great! Two of my most wonderful friends are now married women! Congrats to Hope Cline and Kelly Knowlton! (And Josh and Steve, I guess. haha) The weddings were beautiful and I'm so happy for all of them. I think they are going to be so happy. It was great to see everyone and have a good time at both of them too. I also went on vacation to my Aunt and Uncle's house on the Lake in Oklahoma again. I love it there. It is so beautiful and relaxing. And fun! I'm always stress free! And it was wonderful to see my family. Now I am officially moved to Columbus! Well, actually Worthington. It feels so weird to be REALLY moved out of my house. I mean, sure I lived on campus at college, but this is totally different. I'm definitely feeling it. I miss my family, but I know I will see them. And I'm really happy about my apartment. It is totally great and in an awesome location right by Polaris! It's also pretty close to my school. This week, I have new teacher orientation. I'm sure I will be learning a lot more about my school and meeting a bunch of people. Everyone that I have met there so far is SO NICE! I'm looking forward to planning for school and I'm excited for school to start. But I am definitely nervous. I hope everything goes well. I don't want to let anyone down! I hope you are all doing well. I love you and keep in touch! | | |
| I have a job. WOOP! I will be teaching general music and 5th grade band at Walnut Creek Elementary School in the Olentangy school district. That's near Columbus. So I'm moving! But I'm SO EXCITED! I hope everything turns out great in the next year.
